Jubilee Year 2025 “Pilgrims of Hope”

The Catholic Jubilee of 2025 is a year of reconciliation, pilgrimage, and renewal. The year began on December 24, 2024 and will end on January 6, 2026. The theme for the year is “Pilgrims of Hope”.

What happens during a Jubilee year?

• The Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica is opened 
• The faithful can receive a plenary indulgence, which forgives sins and cleanses the soul 
• The faithful can participate in religious tours and visit papal basilicas 
• The faithful can participate in Holy Year events in their local diocese 

What are some events that will take place during the 2025 Jubilee?

• The Jubilee of the World of Communications, which will take place from January 24–26, 2025 
• The Jubilee of the Armed Forces, Police, and Security Personnel, which will take place from February 8–9, 2025 
• Jubilees for specific groups, such as marching bands, entrepreneurs, families, and people with disabilities 

What is the significance of the Jubilee year?

• It’s a time to renew one’s relationship with God 
• It’s a time to proclaim hope to the world 
• It’s a time to center the church on Jesus’ message of joy and hope
